AMD announced that things are well on track for the introduction of Zen 3 and RDNA 2 architectures this year. The first will be the Ryzen 4000 series and the second will be new graphics cards.
The announcement was made by a quick response on Twitter. AMD says it is on track to launch its next CPU “Zen 3” and GPU “RDNA 2” architectures later this year. Unfortunately, we have no further information at the moment. The Group is holding back on how these new features will be introduced. What will be the first target markets?
“$AMD is well on track to launch the next generation of “Zen 3″ CPUs and RDNA 2 GPUs by the end of 2020”.
AMD Zen 3 and RDNA 2, processor and graphics card
We know that AMD is preparing these EPYC “Milan” processors from this “Zen 3” architecture. It will also bring to life Ryzen’s “Vermeer” desktop chips and “Cezanne” mobile APUs. For now, Zen 3 still keeps its secrets. The changes around the CCDs and CCX are not yet confirmed, so caution is advised. An optimized 7nm etching is also hoped for. Some people speak of N7P or N7+, which is provided by TSMC.
With regard to the GPU-RDNA-2 architecture, the dossier is equally mysterious. The only known chips that exploit this architecture are the semi-custom SoCs that will equip the next game consoles from Sony and Microsoft, namely the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X. Their introduction is expected before the end of the year.
However, in its tweet, AMD evokes a GPU that can refer to a graphics card such as Radeon RX or Radeon Pro.
