AMD RDNA 4 would be built on 3nm and 5nm nodes

For a few days now, there have been big leaks about upcoming products from AMD and Intel. This time it’s about AMD’s next graphics architecture, the RDNA 4.

AMD RDNA 4 will be built on 3nm and 5nm nodes

RDNA 4 will be the successor to the RDNA 3 architecture and will likely bring the RX 8000 series of graphics cards to life. This architecture will be an updated version of RDNA 3 with an MCM design, at least for some models.

From this leak, it appears that the RDNA architecture will also be used in the next two generations. At this point, there is no information about a possible RDNA 5.

The leak mentions that the RDNA 4 chips will be developed with a combination of 3nm and 5nm nodes. The graphics chips would be 3nm and the I/O chips would be 5nm. The RDNA 3 GPUs will be a combination of 5nm and 6nm.

Although some RDNA 4 specifications are already known, we won’t see GPUs with this architecture before the end of 2023, which is after the release of RDNA 3. Navi4X specifications are not known at the moment, as AMD is still actively developing them.

AMD RDNA 4 could compete with NVIDIA’s Ada Lovelace successor, the green company’s upcoming graphics architecture that has been rumored in the past. It remains to be seen whether the graphics leap that AMD’s next two graphics architectures will bring will be enough to compete with NVIDIA’s proposal.
