ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 GX650 Gaming Book specifications revealed, powered by AMD Ryzen 6000 and NVIDIA RTX 3080 Ti

The leaked ROG Zephyrus Duo GX650 gaming notebook is based on an AMD Ryzen 6000 processor and NVIDIA RTX 3080 Ti. This gaming notebook features a dual-screen design, which is typical for higher-end ASUS notebooks. The flagship gaming laptop is also expected to be officially unveiled during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2022) in January next year.

ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 GX650 series laptops will come in three configurations, with the top end being the GX650RX. We’ve seen ASUS’ ROG STRIX SCAR 15 and 16 laptops leak in previous leaks, and the laptops also come with AMD’s Ryzen 6000H and NVIDIA’s flagship RTX 3080 Ti laptop GPU.

So, as per the specs, the high-end ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 GX650 laptop comes with an AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX CPU which will be part of the Rembrandt-H series. The CPU offers a total of 8 Zen 3+ cores and 16 threads and is based on a new 6nm process technology. No mention of clocks yet, but they are expected to be higher than those currently offered by the Ryzen 9 5900HX CPU. The CPU will also feature an onboard RDNA 2 (Navi 2x) graphics chip, although we don’t have details about it yet.

The GPU side will include the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti based on the new Ampere GA103 GPU SKU and will offer a TDP of 150W to 200W. The card is said to come in both standard and Max-Q versions and can run 58 compute units with a total of 7424 CUDA cores and a clock speed of 1395 MHz.

The GPU also features 16 GB of GDDR6 memory, potentially running at 12 Gbps on a 256-bit bus. Other specs for the laptop include 32 GB of RAM. The desktop RTX 3080 will still pack 17 percent more cores, and the GPU itself appears to have some key optimizations for faster clocking and efficiency management. The GPU was confirmed earlier this month via a leak.

MyLaptopGuide has found an offer for the ROG Zephyrus Duo GX650, which would replace the GX551. Apparently, this notebook will be available in three versions, which would be: RX, RW, and RM versions. Possibly, each of these designations has to do with different GPU configurations. There are speculations that the “X” and “W” models might be equipped with an NVIDIA RTX 3080 Ti. The “M” model would have an RTX 3060.

ASUS uses a very specific designation for its ROG notebooks. The last letter usually indicates which graphics card the notebook will be equipped with. These are the current identifiers:

# I / C: RTX 3050
# E: RTX 3050 Ti
#M: RTX 3060
#R: RTX 3070
#S: RTX 3080
#Y: RX 6800M
#X: RTX 3080 Ti
#Z: RTX 3080 Ti
#W: ? (hypothetical RTX 3080 Ti)

The data is known because this notebook was included in the Bluetooth SIG “Launch Studio” database. This means that it has only been certified for Bluetooth technology.

It is worth noting that Bluetooth SIG does not provide any information on this. It simply lists three ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo GX650 notebooks with the three designations at the end. This has led to speculation about the possible specifications of these devices. From the detail given by MyLaptopGuide, it appears that they have additional information.

The processor they are talking about is an AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX processor with 8 cores and 16 threads, which hasn’t even been announced yet. This laptop has 16GB of RAM DDR5 @ 4800MHz. It will integrate an RTX 3080 Ti and a 16-inch display with 1080p resolution and a 300Hz refresh rate. It is also said to come with a 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD and Windows 11 Pro.

That’s a lot of data just to show a model on the Bluetooth SIG website. It leads us to believe that they have a source that has confirmed the laptop and provides them with the bulk of the specs.
