Intel Tiger Lake to confirm its launch around mid 2020

A slide confirms that the company plans to launch its Tiger Lake processor series by mid-year, probably between June and August 2020. Intel has high hopes for Tiger Lake as it forms the micro-architecture behind its most advanced 11th-generation mobile core processors.

Intel today released its financial results for the first quarter of 2020. In the charts shown, the company has provided detailed figures in its earnings release, though attention was drawn to Tiger Lake.

Intel Tiger Lake confirms its mid-2020 launch

Intel Tiger Lake is implementing the new “Willow Cove” CPU core design that follows the “Sunny Cove” cores inside its “Ice Lake” processors.

There are several improvements that will bring Willow Cove to this new generation. You’ll see a new cache design, the implementation of new transistor optimizations with Intel’s 10 nm+ process, and new security features. In addition to the “Willow Cove” CPU cores, the architecture provides for the market debut of Xe graphics as the next generation iGPU solution. The chip will also support next-generation I/O.

The community is waiting to see if Intel can increase the number of CPU cores with Tiger Lake. The company was forced to choose “Comet Lake” for its 15W and 45W markets because of the higher number of cores, even though the CPU core and iGPU architecture are older than that of “Ice Lake”.

Intel seems to have no problem bringing its eleventh generation of laptop processors onto the market this year 2020 as planned and making the leap to the valuable 10 nm.
