Tiger Lake H processors, development of 8-core processors is officially backed by Intel

A leak at the PTT store confirmed the socket type and CPU configurations for the Tiger Lake H processors. Both 35W and 45W variants are expected, with 35W models having up to 4 cores and 96 GPU execution units.

In an article published in Medium, Boyd Phelps, corporate vice president of Intel’s Customer Computing Group, revealed that the company is working on 8-core Tiger Lake H processors based on the Willow Cove design.

These processors, known as Tiger Lake-H through various leaks, are high-end mobile processors. These processors, with a power consumption of 35-45W, are an extension of the Tiger Lake U-Series and are expected to be introduced to the market next year.

As mentioned in the article, the Willow Cove core increases the mid-level cache to 1.25 MB. There will also be a 3 MB cache for each kernel segment, which means that each kernel workload will have 12 MB cache available. In addition, Boyd Phelps confirmed that 8-core variants will have access to up to 24 MB cache.

The high-end version with a TDP of up to 45W would have 4, 6, and 8 core configurations. However, unlike the TGL-UP3 and TGL-H35, this version will only offer up to 32 EU. The Tiger Lake H series will therefore compete directly with AMD’s Cezanne Ryzen 5000H series.

Finally, both processors will be released next year, possibly together with the next generation mobile GeForce RTX 30 (based on amps) and the AMD Radeon RX 6000M series (based on RDNA2).
