iGPU delivers 20% higher performance with OC

One of the big new features of the Ryzen 7000 series from AMD is that they now come with RDNA 2 architecture integrated graphics (iGPU), which is the same graphics architecture as the RX 6000 desktop series. These integrated graphics can be overclocked for additional gaming performance.

AMD Ryzen 7000: iGPU can deliver 20% more performance with OC @ 3 GHz

The RDNA 2 iGPU of AMD Ryzen 7000 can deliver up to 20% more performance with an overclock to 3 GHz, overclocker TOPPC, which is working for MSI, is revealing.

MSI demonstrates overclocking the AMD Ryzen 7000 RDNA 2 iGPU to 3 GHz, as well as showing off a new AM5 BIOS with an AVX on/off switch and more new features.

The integrated graphics usually runs at 2200 MHz, but with MSI’s latest BIOS, users will have support for overclocking these integrated graphics. The overclocker has achieved about 3 GHz, although it should be noted that the voltage of the graphics and the CPU is shared, so overclocking the GPU can affect the overclocking and CPU performance.

All integrated graphics on Ryzen 7000 processors have about 2 compute units, which is pretty basic. TOPPC increased the clock speed to 3 GHz and used a JEDEC DDR5-4800 memory. With this clock speed up to 20% more performance is achieved in 3DMark Fire Strike. Using a DDR5-6000 memory only increases that difference to 2%, for a total of 22%.

While the performance gain is noticeable, the integrated graphics on the Ryzen 7000 processors aren’t designed for gaming, but they can still run more basic titles like CS GO, Fornite, DOTA2, or older games.

The Ryzen 7000 series launched at the end of September to a great reception.
