Radeon RX 7000, AMD promises improved clocks and Ray Tracing

AMD claims that the next-generation RX 7000 (RDNA 3) series of graphics cards will offer vastly improved Ray Tracing capabilities and higher clock speeds than those seen in the current RX 6000 series.

Radeon RX 7000 would offer Ray Tracing improvements and higher clocks

AMD is feeling very confident with the arrival of the RX 7000 series, which is based on the RDNA 3 graphics architecture. During the AMD Financial Analyst Day 2022, the company made some very interesting statements about RDNA 3.

”It (RDNA 3) is also our first gaming GPU architecture that will take advantage of the enhanced 5nm process and advanced chip packaging technology. Another innovation is the compute unit architecture, which includes improved Ray Tracing capabilities and an optimized graphics pipeline with even faster clock speeds and improved power efficiency.

And to bring more photorealistic effects to the real-time gaming realm, we are developing hybrid approaches that leverage the performance of rasterization combined with the visual fidelity of Ray Tracing, to deliver the best immersive real-time experiences without compromising performance.

Finally, in our next-generation multimedia, we will support advanced video codecs like AV1 to deliver high-quality video streaming and lower latencies and bitrates. We will also enhance our display capabilities with the new DisplayPort 2.0 standard to support upcoming HDR displays with high resolutions and refresh rates.”

David Wang, AMD senior vice president of engineering at Radeon Technologies Group.

We may see the RX 7000 series break the 3 GHz speed barrier when they launch in the final months of this year 2022.
