While this mod still needs polishing, it is now possible to activate AMD FSR 3 in games supported with NVIDIA DLSS 3 to gain FPS.
You don’t need to have a super GPU, and FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 is already open-source. The protagonist of this story is the mod creator, who wants everyone to enjoy Frame Generation in most games. It still needs to gain stability and fix certain issues… but something is better than nothing.
The creator is named Nukem9, and he has made this mod available for download on GitHub, enabling Frame Generation from FSR 3 in games with NVIDIA DLSS 3. Its integration is not the best in the world, with certain visual anomalies, but it’s better than nothing, right?
All this became possible after the source code release of FSR 3 by AMD, DirectX 12, and Unreal Engine 5. This has led to performance improvements with AMD graphics cards or those that can benefit from FSR 3. Nukem9 has also shared a demo of how the FSR 3 mod behaves in Cyberpunk 2077.
Remember that FSR 3 can be used on RTX 3000 and RTX 2000, as DLSS 3 support is limited to RTX 4000 and above. This is not an official integration, so don’t expect the best in terms of FPS.
However, there are games where it can be a more than respectable option, such as Starfield. That said, you won’t have to wait long to see the official FSR 3 in Starfield.
Finally, remember that the main novelty of FSR 3 is in Frame Generation, a technology powered by NVIDIA and replicated “in its way” by AMD in this version of FidelityFX Super Resolution. Deep Learning is not used, but the FPS increase is indeed notable.
