The latest rumor from AMD suggests that AMD plans to launch its new line of AMD Threadripper 3 processors in October of this year, 2019. Intel will launch its new X299G platform along with its Cascade Lake X processors in October, and it appears that AMD plans to launch its new Zen 2 to 7nm threadripper on the same day.
AMD probably is not satisfied with the successful launch of its new AMD Zen 2 architecture. Almost the entire analysis of these processors has shown a noticeable performance leap between the previous and the new generation.
AMD threadrippers Gen 3 will be launched to compete with Intel Cascade Lake X processors
The rumors about these new Threadrippers are multiple: There are rumors that we will see 64, 48, 36 and 24 core models, and there are other more realistic rumors that we will see only 32 and 24 as replacements for the 2990WX and 2970WX threadrippers. Even with 32 cores, this will be more than enough to destroy Cascade Lake-X and its maximum of 18 cores.
In the current line, Intel introduced its 18-core i9-9980XE at U$S 1979. AMD also released its Threadripper 2990WX with 32 cores at U$S 1799. If both brands maintain these prices in their new generation, we wish Intel good luck in trying to sell new 18-core processors that also require new motherboards at the same price as AMD’s 32-core models.
At this time when AMD is going through a particularly good time with its processors, the fact that it can release its new Threadripper 3 models, which could also prove to be a rival in the HEDT segment.
