Unreal Engine 5 demo require an RTX 2070 Super for smooth texture processing on PC

After unveiling Unreal Engine 5 and demonstrating an astonishing demo running on Playstation 5, Epic talked about the requirements to run this demo smoothly on the PC and revealed that at least one RTX 2070 Super is required.

This is not the only interesting information Epic revealed. It was also mentioned that this demo, which ran on Playstation 5, used a dynamic resolution, and ran in 2560×1440 most of the time. Also, the dedicated hardware for ray tracing of the console was not used, but everything ran on the stream processors, so we could see similar graphics even without hardware ray tracing in graphics.

Epic also appreciated the advantages of the SSD of the PS5 and mentioned that it is not possible to achieve such graphics when using a hard drive or even an SSD SATA, as they do not have enough speed to load high-resolution textures on demand. If we want to use these textures on a PC, we need a high-speed SSD NVME.

Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until early 2021 for Epic to release Unreal Engine 5, and even more until the developers start implementing the new features, so there’s still a long way to go before we can try them out, although the results are undoubtedly more than good.
