There are rumors and leaks about what the new generation of Sony, PS5 and PS5 Pro consoles will look like without even having a single release date. For example, the latest rumor comes from a patent filed by Sony itself, which speaks of a language assistant in the form of artificial intelligence and will run under the name PlayStation Assist.
Unlike the voice commands already integrated into the PS4 via the DualShock 4’s built-in microphone, this new assistant will provide us with both voice control of our console and relevant data on the tracks we play.
In this way, PlayStation Assist could read the information within the games themselves, with hints on the map or the remaining objects in our inventory, but also tips on how to complete missions or defeat enemies on the screen.
In addition, this new assistant would be compatible with the PS5 and other mobile devices and tablets that record our interactions and give us access to additional content and assistance such as videos and tutorials.
So we can’t help but see some similarities with the features introduced a year ago by Call of Duty and Alexa, so there’s no compatibility with current language assistants either.
However, since we don’t know how far this project has progressed or not, it’s important to note that large companies are filing hundreds of patents that can never be completed and premiered, despite the treatment of some really interesting features.
At the moment, we just need to add PlayStation Assist to the long list of unconfirmed PS5 features and wait until the official presentation on February 12, 2020.
