PS5 and Xbox Scarlett: Cyberpunk 2077 expects 4K, raytracing and 60 FPS gaming

Cyberpunk 2077 will have a separate version for PS5 and Xbox Scarlett. The creation of Cyberpunk 2077 was very complicated but is finally in the last phase. CD Project RED has been working on it since they completed the last expansion for The Witcher III, that is since mid-2016, and their release was confirmed for April 16, 2020.

It is a very strange date because it implies that its launch will take place a few months before the launch of PS5 and Xbox Scarlett, which are the new generation consoles from Sony and Microsoft, casting many doubts on the possible launch of a version of Cyberpunk 2077 specifically tailored to the capabilities of both consoles.

Cyberpunk 2077 will have a version for PS5 and Xbox Scarlett

It is worth asking if it is really necessary, i.e. if it is really CD project RED should launch a separate version for both consoles, especially considering that both will be compatible with PS4 games and Xbox One and therefore the version of Cyberpunk 2077 can run for both systems.

The answer is not as simple as it seems at first glance. Designing a version that is perfectly adapted to PS5 and Xbox Scarlett is something that can’t be achieved by a game that offers backwards compatibility, i.e. requires specific development through the special kits of both consoles, something that Miles Tost, the senior designer of Cyberpunk 2077 Levels, had read between the lines when he said they were considering releasing a version of this game for the new Sony and Microsoft.

“It’s impossible to say what graphical improvements Cyberpunk 2077 will bring for PS5 and Xbox Scarlett, but we expect it to be a version on the same level as what we’ll see in a medium-high range PC, i.e. it will work in 4K resolution with high graphics quality, raytracing at base level and 60 FPS.”

Let me remind you that the estimate of the Cyberpunk 2077 requirements we made has not changed, as it is a generation change game that will continue to be developed to work with Xbox One and PS4.
