Measure for Android allows us to measure objects thanks to augmented reality

Over the last few years we have frequently spoken about the potential of augmented reality, which today has many practical applications. During the WWDC held by Apple a few weeks ago, the company announced the arrival of a rule in the form of an augmented reality application for iOS 12. Now, Google is doing the same, announcing the availability of the Measure app on modern Android devices.

If we look back many of you will remember that the application was already available since 2016. Even so, it could only be used in Tango devices, as we explained at the time. Now, thanks to Google’s move, any Android smartphone that supports Google’s AR Core platform can run Measure.

Like all other applications of this type, its operation is really simple. We just have to move the smartphone around to analyze the environment and start drawing a virtual line to measure any object. In addition, Measure will allow us to switch between the metric and imperial systems, which is a real plus.

Without a doubt, this is an interesting move on Google’s part, as many users of Android devices were waiting for application compatibility on their devices. If it has caught your attention and you want to install it, you can download it for free from the Play Store.
