Intel today announced the addition of three new Optane 905P models to its range of Optane SSDs, which offer more features than their current counterparts.
Now Intel’s Optane 905P series SSDs can deliver capacities of up to 1.5TB, with over 50% more than the 960GB variants, and more storage space on 2.5-inch/U.2 and PCIe drives.
Intel actually declares 575,000 and 550,000 IOPS in random read/write and latency times of 10 microseconds. The data on the resistance in written form report instead of 27.37 PBW, the MTBF value is 1.6 million hours, the warranty is extended to 5 years.
At this point, it appears that the 905P will remain on the market at the same time as the Optane 900P, and this explains why there are no equivalent capacity models for any form factor of SSDs. Although the Optane 905P offers an increase in performance over the 900P, at least for the time being it does not serve as a complete replacement for the 900P.
In terms of performance, the new models offer higher sequential read/write performance than the 900P, with an increase of 100MB/s in sequential read performance and 200MB/s in sequential write performance.
Let’s remember that these super-fast Intel memory drives come with a five-year warranty, with a resistance of 10 DWPD which is more than enough for any consumer SSD.
At that time, Intel’s new 1.5TB units had not been seen by retailers and are expected to reach a new price level compared to the 960GB model, which currently costs around 1500 euros in EU.
