They have finally launched Google Stadia, their video game streaming service, which will launch on November 19 in a number of countries – including Spain, but not Mexico and the rest of Latin America. With the new promotional video, we now know that your controller won’t work wirelessly with PCs, smartphones, tablets and even your own Chromebooks. For the moment it will only be wireless with your Chromecast Ultra, probably because this device has only one physical port and is intended for power supply.

At the Android Police’s news, Google is showing some details about the operation of this wireless controller on the stadia’s own support page:

“The stadia remote uses Bluetooth (BLE) with low power consumption during setup and then connects to a Wi-Fi network to play. You can also connect your Stadia remote control to your phone, tablet or computer by connecting a USB cable to the USB-C port on the Stadia remote control.”

As a result, launching options on media outside the Chromecast are limited to using the USB-connected controller – or another compatible controller -, pairing with another Bluetooth controller – such as PlayStation 4 or Xbox One – or using the keyboard and mouse as in-game interfaces.

However, Google has expanded support for devices that are compatible with its video game streaming service. In addition to Pixel 3 and Pixel 3a, Stadia is also compatible with Pixel 2 and the newly introduced Pixel 4.
