F1 Team Haas will use AMD EPYC processors

With the introduction of AMD new generation of EPYC-based servers, Lisa Su’s company is trying to build new business relationships that will also serve as an advertisement for the company. One example is the Haas F1 Team, a team that is competing in the Formula 1 World Championship.

With the introduction of the second generation of EPYC processors, next year proved to be an interesting option for the server market. That’s why the Haas F1 team has decided to deploy servers based on EPYC processors by 2019. Formula 1 today is a more technological device than just driving (although it is obviously still the second one). To achieve the highest accuracy, an F1 team needs a very large computing and analysis capacity.

Combined with the large budgetary resources that some Formula 1 teams have, this makes the perfect combination for some companies like AMD. Haas has therefore signed a contract to purchase a Cray CS500 supercomputer equipped with EPYC 7000 series processors. The aim is to improve the development of the vehicle that they will use for next year and increase the level of simulations carried out in the Grand Prix itself.
