ASUS (Asustek Computer) rejected a recent media report claiming that the company was willing to dismiss half of the gamer department employees with at least 300 affected employees, as well as employees in the equipment and laptop departments.
Asustek said much of the information in the report was baseless and the company would publish the announcements in the event of major changes.
However, according to supply chain sources, Asustek had already released more than 100 employees from its laptop departments in September, and the affected employees were transferred to other departments or received special severance pay.
The number of employees affected represented less than 1% of Asustek’s total workforce in Taiwan, according to sources.
Asustek has also considered giving up its equipment department, but the plan is still under discussion, sources said.
