As the latest news from Xiaomi Mi 7 shows, it’s probably Mi 8 – the phone for the company’s eighth birthday. We already know a little bit about its specification, and the premiere is getting closer and closer. But the most interesting thing is that a video has just been released, which shows a probable fingerprint reader hidden under the display. Xiaomi can be ahead of Samsung and Apple in this race.
A short video clip appeared on Weibo, which immediately ran around the net. It shows how the Xiaomi Mi 8 is clearly equipped with a fingerprint reader that is hidden under the display and not somewhere outside the screen, as is the case with many other phones. It’s worth remembering that Xiaomi Mi 8 is the direct successor of Mi 6 – according to the latest reports Xiaomi immediately jumps by one number.
Mi 8 will be officially announced at the end of this month. Xiaomi will probably show you the phone right next to the third generation of Mi Band Wristbands. The Xiaomi flagship smartphone will have as much as 8GB of RAM, 64GB of data space, Snapdragon 845, wireless charging support and a pretty powerful 4000mAh battery. The phone will also have the latest MIUI 9 software.
Moreover, Xiaomi Mi 8 is said to have a solution very similar to the one we know from iPhone X, i.e. face recognition on the Facebook level. With a potential fingerprint reader hidden in the screen, it could be a significant revolution in the smartphone market – after all, neither Samsung nor Apple have implemented this solution yet. We will probably all know on 31 May, because there are many indications that this is when the Xiaomi conference will take place.
For the time being, we have to be patient. And if you’re interested in Xiaomi flagship phones, they’re about half as cheap as top gear like Samsung.
