These chips, still based on 14nm etching, play with different parameters to improve their competitiveness. Intel is increasing the number of cores, increasing frequencies and optimizing the price/performance ratio.

This launch is not really a surprise, considering that it has been announced in several reports for several days. The giant brings 18 new references, ranging from 8 to 24 cores. However, this “refresh” is not complete. For the time being, it only concerns the gold, silver and bronze families. The platinum series remains unchanged. However, it benefited from a price reduction a few weeks ago.

According to Intel, these new features offer up to 36% more performance while optimizing the price/performance ratio by 42% compared to Xeon Cascade Lake’s offering. On this point, the press release states

“The new Intel Xeon Gold 6200 processors offer a turbo boost of up to 4.5 GHz and up to 33% cache …] In mainstream use, the new Intel Xeon Gold 6200R and 5200R processors offer improved performance through a combination of higher Turbo Boost and base frequencies and a larger processor cache. These new features come with increased value and capabilities for entry-level applications “

These 18 new processors can be identified by the letter “R” in their name (R for Refresh). Here is the complete list of their specifications.
