Windows 7 with KB4093118 there are installation problems

The situation is a bit peculiar because cumulative update installation problems concern PCs running Windows 10 and not Windows 7. Under Windows 10 it even became rather classic. It is recognized that Microsoft apparently has difficulty obtaining 100% cumulative functional patches.

This time the concern is KB4093118. This cumulative update was released on April 10. Microsoft has “concocted” it for computers running Windows 7. She was also redeployed a second time a few days later.

Its installation does not seem to work correctly in all cases.

Windows 7 and KB4093118, infinite loops

Some users encounter a bug pushing the machine into an infinite reboot loop. In other words, the installation process cannot be completed while its installation is proposed each time the computer is restarted. This behavior is known since it is typical in case of the problem under Windows 10.

Unfortunately, this is not the only symptom. In other cases (Windows 7 32-bit) the problem is more serious. KB4093118 triggers a restart sequence, with no way back to the desktop. For now, one way to solve these problems is to remove the patch and then hide it completely.

For its part, Microsoft is silent. We do not know if a patch is under development.

The next meeting, concerning the significant maintenance of Microsoft’s software ecosystem, is expected in May. This Tuesday patch will once again offer several cumulative updates for Windows 10 but also Windows 7 and Windows 8.1
