Earlier this month, it was revealed that the patch that was supposed to fix the Meltdown vulnerability on Windows 10 Fall Creators Update was broken. The situation was so worrying that the bug in question was named “fatal defect”. Microsoft has just rectified the situation.

This discovery was signed by security researcher Alex Ionescu. The problem is known to Microsoft since the very last version of Windows 10, April 2018 Update or Redstone 4 has necessary to rectify the shooting. However, the giant did not stop at this version.

The May 2018 Patch Tuesday offers a solution to this problem for users of Windows 10 v1709 alias Fall Creators Update. In fact, Microsoft fixes the only version affected by this bug. For Alex Ionescu, the giant really took his time.

In his eyes, we are facing an “incredible turnaround time to solve this problem (which only affected Fall Creators Update”).

He adds:

“Clients of this version 1709 are now protected as those of version 1803.”
In other words, the Microsoft team is putting an end to this so-called “fatal” flaw, it no longer exists.

For its part, Microsoft does not give any information on its patch. We know that it is part of the most recent cumulative update for Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. It is KB4103727.
