Today’s operating systems are very complex, with a large amount of content and services running at the same time, which means that more resources are consumed, and that performance is lower than expected on the most modest computers. Windows 10 Lean is a simplified version of Windows 10 that wants to solve this performance problem.
Windows 10 Lean will be a simplified version for better performance
Windows 10 Lean is a lighter version of the Microsoft operating system that will come with the next major Redstone 5 update. This version takes up 2 GB less hard disk space compared to the Pro version, which is indicative of a large number of items that have been removed.
This is a version of Windows 10 that has been designed to deliver the best possible performance on the smallest of computers, and with little storage, for example, 2-in-1 convertibles. However, it will still be a fully functional Windows 10 capable of running all applications. A previous version is expected to be included in build 17650 for the Quick Ring Insiders.
We think Microsoft’s decision to launch this lightweight version of its current operating system is a wise one, as many users never get to use many of the features included in the rest of the versions of Windows 10. Redstone 5 is expected to arrive in the fall of 2018, so we’ll still have to wait a long time to see this Windows 10 Lean in action.
