Microsoft has released a new cumulative update for its Windows 10 operating system. It is intended for computers running April 2018 Update.
KB4345421 is the second cumulative update for Windows 10 April 2018 Update offered by Microsoft in July. Its installation allows the OS to progress to version 17134.167. This figure is important since it allows to verify that its installation was correctly carried out.
Its content addresses non-security issues. Clearly, we have bug fixes.
Security updates are generally offered in a special framework, that of the large monthly maintenance called Patch Tuesday. It’s possible that Redmond is plugging faults outside of this timeline. That depends on the gravity of the situation.
Windows 10 and KB4345421, four patches and no known problems
Back to KB4345421, we have four patches. One of them provides a solution to crash errors encountered by some systems following the installation of the July Path Tuesday cumulative update.
BSOD problems should normally disappear. The firm explains that some devices running network monitoring workloads encountered a “0xD1” shutdown error.
In parallel, a loss of network connection has been observed on some PCs. The bug affects the DHCP failover server allowing automatic IP allocation. This results in an invalid configuration when requesting an IP address.
To all this are added corrections around “SQL Server” and for W3SVC systems. On this point, Microsoft recommends installing this cumulative update as soon as possible.
The good news is that KB4345421 has no known and unfixed problems. Its installation should be carried out correctly without causing any malfunction. For the moment there are no negative reports regarding its installation. Let’s be careful though, this is only the first few hours of its deployment.
