Microsoft has discretely deployed a cumulative update named KB4056254. Available since June 15, it targets Windows 10 PCs that have encountered problems with Windows Update services.
Microsoft makes no version distinction. Clearly, this patch attacks all versions of Windows except April 2018 Update. This goes from Windows 10 Home or Pro v1508 to 1703 via Windows 10 v1511 and 1607. The giant speaks of an “update facilitation service”. It seems to be a set of solutions to solve problems related to the Windows Update service.
Windows 10 and KB4056254, for Windows Update to work properly
The giant would tackle concerns affecting the process of updating its operating system in the background. We are in the presence of the spine of the system. It ensures its maintenance. It is vital that its operation is operational in order to guarantee the download and installation of corrections and improvements.
Without Windows Update, the process of having a protected and up-to-date PC requires significant monthly manual intervention, which is not an option for the general public.
Once downloaded, this update opens a dialog box called “Important Fix for Windows Update”. Its design is quite new. This did not fail to alert users thinking that it was malicious software. While all versions of Windows 10 are affected, not all PCs are.
Finally, it was possible to read on some forums that it was a new tool. Its goal would be to force PCs to adopt the latest Windows 10 version. If the “mysterious” character and the fact that it is a Windows Update maintenance can support this hypothesis, nothing confirms this hypothesis.
