WD Blue SN570 NVMe, Western Digital refreshes WD Blue series for content creators

Western Digital introduces its new WD Blue SN570 NVMe SSD aimed at content creators. One of the most interesting aspects is that of durability. Western Digital has rated these drives with a durability of 150 TBW for the 250 GB model, 300 TBW for the 500 GB model, and 600 TBW for the 1 TB model.

WD Blue SN570 NVMe, new SSD for content creators

The WD Blue SN570 NVMe is a refreshed replacement for the WD Blue SN550, which is available at launch in 250GB, 500GB, and 1TB capacities. These DRAM-less drives use 112-layer BiCS5 3D NAND TLC modules that offer NVMe 1.4 support. Unfortunately, we do not know what controller this drive uses.

This drive seems to aim to offer a low-cost SSD that uses a PCIe 3.0 interface. This results in reading/write speeds being limited to 3500 MB/s sequential read and 3000 MB/s sequential write. However, the 250 GB capacity model has lower speeds than the larger capacity models.

Price appears to be a major factor, with costs of $53.99 for the 250GB model and $109.99 for the 1TB model. WD did not provide pricing for the 500GB model. The warranty for all three SSDs is 5 years.

All Blue SN570 NVMe drives come with a free month of Adobe Creative Cloud for cloud storage to further save data.
