Video: RTX 2070 VS. GTX 1070 TI tested in 1440P and 2160P

NJTech has released a new performance benchmark that tests the RTX 2070 and GTX 1070 TI, two NVIDIA graphics cards that are among those we might consider high-end graphics cards but belongs to the different generations.

The GTX 1070 TI is a recently released graphics card that is not a next-generation model, but that is surely the NVIDIA’s response to AMD’s RX Vega 56. The GTX 1070 TI is based on the Pascal architecture, particularly in the GP104 core, a chip that keeps 2,432 shaders, 152 TMUs, 64 ROPs active in this model and has 8GB of GDDR5 at 8GHz on a 256-bit bus.

In contrast, the RTX 2070 is a next-generation graphics card based on Turing architecture. It uses the TU106 graphics core, a chip that integrates 2,304 shaders, 144 TMUs, 64 ROPs, and 8 GB GDDR6 at 14 GHz on a 256-bit bus.

A direct comparison at the specification level seems to indicate that both graphics cards show almost identical performance, but the reality is completely different. The RTX 2070 is more powerful than the GTX 1070 TI, although the differences vary depending on the game and resolution used.

Also, the price difference between a GTX 1070 TI and an RTX 2070 is not very big, as the former has an approximate price of 480 Euros and the latter can be bought for a little more than 540 Euros, so the RTX 2070 is a better option.
