Toshiba announces SAS and NVMe SSDs up to 31TB

Toshiba is giving many headlines focused on 64-layer TLC-type NAND 3D memory, which is present in SSD as the small 16 × 20 mm BG3. Now it has offered two different models for the business sector, PM5, and CM5. These are SAS and NVMe protocol compatible respectively. The first one comes with an interface at 12 Gb/s, and the second at 32 Gb/s.

Higher Data Read/Write Speeds

The PM5 will come in capacities of up to 30.75 TB, with a four-port multi- link architecture. That can achieve speeds of 3350 MB/s and 2720 MB/s sequential read/write, and 400,000 random-read IOPS. MultiLink technology for SAS is a technology that gets introduced in 2010. But it was left in the forgotten until now. And it is necessary to rescue it for the SAS to perform better than PCIe 3.0 type SSDs with NVMe. And that will allow links up to 96 Gb/s in full duplex or full duplex mode.

The CM5 model is an SSD with PCIe interface 3.0 × 4 that allows speeds of up to 800,000 IOPS and 240,000 IOPS random read/write files of size 4 KB. The durability is in the 5 DWPD (complete recordings of unit per day). So, offers you with a maximum consumption of up to 18 W, and a maximum capacity of 15.36 TB per unit.

Toshiba A Highly Durable Brand

Both models will be on sale soon although they are already in testing phase by Toshiba partners. That sounds with durability ratings of 1, 3 and 5 DWPD for the CM5, and 10 DWPD for PM5.
