SK Hynix announced today the launch of a new series of SSDs called SuperCore, which will soon be available to customers. The first version of the new family will be the Gold S31, 2.5-inch SATA drives with capacities ranging from 250GB to 1TB.
With the introduction of the SSD Gold S31 based on the company’s NAND and SSD controllers, the legacy manufacturer is returning to retail, but there are not many details about what can be expected from them. Other units with reading speeds of 560MB/sec and write speeds of 525MB/sec will also be on the way, very similar to the other products on the market today. The lists of the branches also confirm that the devices contain DRAM.
Hynix returns to the retail SSD unit market with the Gold S31 series
SK Hynix was previously a serious competitor in the SSD market, along with manufacturers such as Samsung and Intel, all of which in the past developed their own products at home and aimed at the consumer. Hynix also had its retail SSD products but never reached North America. Traditionally, they were only available through other channels, but as far as their sale through official channels is concerned, this has not yet become a reality. Instead, they have focused on other technologies, such as OEM devices.
These Hynix SSDs will now be distributed exclusively in North America through Amazon, although they will be distributed in Europe and other territories next year. It also appears that the company will have launched new PCIe products by then.
You can purchase the 250GB drive for only $50, the 500GB version for $78, and the 1TB version for $124.
