Sony has signed a two-year agreement with Lenovo. This agreement will enable Lenovo to continue to use the PSVR design in its own VR device, the Mirage Solo. At first glance, you can see the similarity between the two devices. The most striking similarity in design is the “Cap Style”, which is designed to ensure optimal distribution of the head weight.

The companies did not publish the details of the agreement, but it is clear that Lenovo had to pay. According to Riley Russell, General Counsel of Sony, ” the PSVR design is the result of years of hard work by PlayStation engineers.
Lenovo, for its part, made the following comments:
“Lenovo is delighted to be working with Sony. The supremacy of the PSVR design is obvious. This agreement will allow us to work together to improve the appeal of design in a fast-growing area like VR and represents an exceptional example of how consumer companies in the VR industry can work together to help consumers in the VR market.”
It will be interesting to see a new design rolled out after the agreement. Meanwhile, these companies seem to have managed to master the situation in a quite friendly way, or at least want to show it to the outside world.
