Sonnet introduces eGFX Breakaway Box. During the last year, we have seen many manufacturers presenting their solutions for external graphics cards. That can be used through a Thunderbolt 3 port with portable computers. Sonnet has announced the release of its version of its external GPU chassis with its new eGFX Breakaway Box.
Which like other solutions, has a chassis that incorporates a power supply and a PCIe 3.0 port. That connects through A Thunderbolt 3 port to the team to offer a dedicated desktop GPU to a laptop computer that usually has more limits in this regard.
eGFX Breakaway Box Specifications
With its Thunderbolt 3 port, the eGFX Breakaway Box is capable of delivering a 40Gbps bandwidth. That is capable of supporting PCIe 3.0 x16. And speeds of up to 2750MB/s bandwidth. Which will allow the maximum squeeze of any modern GPU. And with it, the CPU of the equipment is able to do it without causing a bottleneck.
The eGFX Breakaway Box will be sold in two models with two different power supplies. One 350W with an 8 Pin PCIe connector and a 6 Pin auxiliary connector. And a 550W connector with two 8 Pin PCIe connectors to power the larger GPUs Powerful market that will come soon. This box also allows the charging of our laptop offering up to 17W on the 350W model and up to 87W on the 550W model.
Finally, the price for the 350W model is 299 $. And it will go on sale from July. While the 550W model will put on the sale in the third quarter of the year with a price of 349 $.
