More and more reports about Samsung’s removal of the iris scanner in the future Galaxy S10 are being reported. A Korean media outlet has quoted industry experts who said the company would stay away from the technology and rely on fingerprint scans as an essential biometric security measure.

Rumors about the removal of the iris scanner came up earlier this year and now seem to have been confirmed by two independent sources. By eliminating the iris scanner, Samsung can make the upper bezel thinner or allow room for 3D face scanning technology, which seems to be the preferred choice of manufacturers lately.
Mobile phone manufacturers face many challenges when it comes to making phones slimmer and with narrower edges, eliminating physical buttons, eliminating the classic 3.5mm jacks, or integrating a very carefully selected selection of biometric technologies.
ETNews reports suggest that the fingerprint scanner under the screen is eventually used by all three Samsung Galaxy S10 models. Instead of the Synaptics optical sensor used by vivo and Oppo, it is based on the ultrasonic sensor developed by Qualcomm.
The new star phone from Korean company Samsung Galaxy S10 would be launched in 2019 at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona at the end of February.
