The Monster Hunter World has just been released on PC and the inevitable performance comparisons haven’t been overdue. It is Wccftech that has tested the performance of the game with several AMD and Nvidia graphics cards, including the RX VEGA 64 and GTX 1080 with surprising results.
RX Vega Achieves Outstanding Results at Monster Hunter World
In the test method, they have used the ‘High’ setting. If you set the game to a higher setting, the performance decreases too much without justifying it graphically.
According to the results, all the tests show a clear advantage for Radeon graphics cards, it’s a pity that we couldn’t test a Vega 56 RX to see where it was placed.
The processor used in all cases is the Ryzen 2700X with 4.0 GHz which is installed on an MSI X370 XPower Gaming Titanium motherboard along with about 16 GB G.Skill Flare X memory. The drivers used for Nvidia were version 398.82 and in the case of Rodeón version 18.8.1.
In all resolutions, 1080p, 1440p and 4K, RX VEGA 64 is far superior to the GTX 1080. In contrast, the mid-range squad with GTX 1060 and RX 480 – 570 remains quite balanced.
Why this superiority of RX VEGA 64? Hard to say, but it can be a problem for Nvidia’s driver. Since this is a very new game, that may need further optimizations at the driver level. We will certainly know when Nvidia will be able to release new versions in the next few weeks.
