Quixel’s Rebirth Teaser Rebirth uncovers the power of the Unreal Engine with Super Photorealism

Another beauty of Unreal Engine is out of box. Quixel, expert in real-time photorealism recently released an impressive new teaser called Rebirth, a cinema that combines “the power of the Unreal Engine” with real images from the Icelandic Megascans collection, which “represents a new way of creating computer graphics“.

Rebirth is an impressive example of how perfectly trained artists can combine real life with computer graphics in an extraordinary way. The result was a cinematic real-time demonstration of Rebirth that is less than two minutes long and takes place in a futuristic extraterrestrial environment. The Megascans library provided standardized materials that simplified production by eliminating the need to recreate resources from scratch. And the high accuracy of scanning based on physical data has made it possible to achieve photorealistic results.

Unreal Engine excels Quixel teaser “Rebirth” visualizations

The Rebirth team has experts from a variety of disciplines, including VFX, ArchViz, and video games, to “produce a cinematic representation of hybrids between machine/humans. To prepare for the project, Quixel spent a month in icy rain and thunderstorms, scanned communities in Iceland, and returned with more than a thousand images. They captured a variety of regions and natural spaces, which were then used for short films.

Based on the Unreal Engine 4.21, the cornerstone, Quixel artists were able to change the scene in real time without the need for preview or post-production. However, speaking enough, here is the video:
