Opera has two new features for version 54 of the desktop browser. The two updates make it easier to keep up with the latest news, but also an easy restore of Opera shouldn’t work properly anymore. The details are as follows:
The page for Speed Dial also presents news in the form of articles from version 54. These are displayed under the usual folders, 50 in number. What appears in this way can be influenced by the user, both thematically and in the displayed language – the function is available in 40 languages. You can use the settings, where you have already managed your personalized news page if used (can be found via the sidebar).
Update & Recovery is the second major change in this release. You can now check for updates by clicking on the “O” or “Opera”. If an update is available, a download button will also appear. In my opinion, however, the recovery function is more interesting. Here the user can reset the browser in two ways.
First, there is the possibility to set only the settings back to the standard. This includes the specified search engine, pinned tabs are removed, extensions are removed and temporary data such as cookies are removed. Bookmarks, history and saved passwords are retained with this option.
Alternatively, you can reset the browser completely, then it is like a fresh installation. Everything with one click, no matter if you want to reset everything or only part of it. This can be quite helpful if you have got lost somewhere and no longer know how to undo something. Or simply because the browser became slow over time.
The download links for the different systems can be found in the announcement post at Opera.
