To get the new features you have to activate the Test Channel (Settings -> Beta Version) in the settings of the Oculus software. The pleasure is limited to 8 people sharing content or spending time together. In order to be able to jump directly into the VR games in the future, the developers still have to adapt their software. In the future, however, this feature is to become a fixed component.

For sharing your content, Oculus Desktop is shared with your visitors. But there is a technical hurdle: Currently, video transmission is only possible with a graphics card from NVIDIA that has “Hardware Video Encoder Support”.

In addition, Oculus finally provides the Oculus Home with new methods of locomotion. You no longer need to teleport through your home, but can also move freely with the stick and, if desired, turn smoothly.

Oculus describes the current update as the start of the Social VR functions and promises further updates in the coming weeks and months.
