A tipster has revealed that the RTX 3090 Ti will use Micron’s most advanced GDDR6X memory, model MT61K512M32KPA-21U. New information indicates that NVIDIA has the RTX 3090 Ti ready, which will be powered by Micron GDDR6X memory. According to rumors, this new graphics card will be equipped with 24 GB of GDDR6X and will run at 21 Gbps.
NVIDIA RTX 3090 Ti will be equipped with 24 GB of GDDR6X at a frequency of 21 Gbps.
For some time now, there have been rumors about an update to NVIDIA’s Ampere graphics cards. These graphics cards would be a solution to the wait for the NVIDIA Hopper, which is expected to hit the market in the second half of 2022. An update that will bring some new features, such as an increase in VRAM memory space.
The NVIDIA RTX 3090 Ti has been revealed under the codename “MT61K512M32KPA-21U.” This graphics card would be based on GDDR6X memory, which is manufactured by Micron. This is the latest generation, which offers higher frequencies.
This graphics card would be the first to use 16GB modules (2GB per chip) based on the GDDR6X standard. NVIDIA has not been able to fit 2GB of GDDR6X memory chips into a graphics card until now. This has forced the company to use GDDR6 memory in workstation products that don’t require high-capacity buffers. The RTX 3090, for example, uses 24 GDDR6X memory chips.
Thanks to the new GDDR6X memory, NVIDIA RTX 3090 Ti can use only 12 memory chips to add up to 24GB of GDDR6X. This results in a simplified design as the memory does not need to be installed on the back of the graphics card.
Moreover, NVIDIA RTX 3090 Ti would be the first to use GA102 GPU silicon with 10,752 CUDA cores. Thanks to the new VRAM chips, we will have a 384-bit memory bus and a bandwidth of 1 TB/s.
The RTX 3080 12GB and RTX 3070 Ti 16GB graphics cards will be released first in January. The NVIDIA RTX 3090 Ti will be released much later.
Spec-wise, the relatively fresh look at the RTX 3090 Ti will include 16Pin external power connectors, PCIe 5.0 slots, etc. This is because the thermal design power consumption of the RTX 3090 Ti will increase by a full 100W over the RTX 3090, to 450W.
What do you think of the initial details of the RTX 3090 Ti graphics card with 24GB GDDR6X @ 21Gbps?
