We just had evidence that Nvidia might be working on a new shield device. The code names Stormcaster and Friday were combined with a new controller and a new multimedia controller.

Considering these new controllers, this would mean that we could see a new version of Shield this year as well.
It’s been a few years since Nvidia launched its Shield TV, yet it’s still one of the best options on the market. Android TV OS has greatly improved since its introduction, and if you’re a GeForce player, it’s the perfect device to play games on your TV from your PC.
As we mentioned earlier, the 2017 shield is still pretty powerful as well. Its Tegra X1 is still powerful enough to run any Android app you throw at it. This raises the question, why would Nvidia want to upgrade now?
The company answered about the existence of key names and explained that they can’t say anything about products that are not active yet…. It confirms that both names have not yet been released.
