Microsoft has released Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 18267 (19H1) for the insiders of Fast and Skip Ahead rings. This version includes improvements in input and accessibility. It also includes a new feature called Enhanced Mode for the search indexer that adds all your files and drives to the search index and not just the default positions.
Windows 10 Improved search indexer mode
To improve search indexing, Microsoft has developed a new feature that allows Windows to browse all your folders and drives, instead of limiting the search to your default documents, pictures, videos, and desktop computers. To enable this, browse to the Windows search settings and select Advanced in the Windows search settings under “Browse my files” to start the selective indexing process. It will take about 15 minutes for the search to start transferring these additional files back into the results. If you have many files, it may take longer. Be sure to connect your drive before starting, as indexing is a resource-intensive activity.
Once indexing is complete, you can use Windows Search to find all your files almost instantly. To exclude a folder from the search, add it to the list of excluded folders.
Windows 10 Input Enhancements
You can now access Vietnamese keyboards based on telex and numeric keys on your PC. “Do you write in Vietnamese? We want you to have the best possible typing experience. We are therefore pleased to inform you that with this version you can now also use Vietnamese telex and numeric keyboards (NIVs) to make entries in Vietnamese! Adding these keyboard options to the PC was one of the most important feature requirements in the input area, so we look forward to your trying it out.
More symbols are now available on the touchscreen keyboard: you can now easily access additional symbols and special characters directly from the touchscreen keyboard. After switching to displaying numbers and symbols (& 123) on the touchscreen, simply press the new Ω button and you’ll see a series of tabs with toolbars.
