Metro Exodus and the Nvidia RTX, 1st video with this Ray Tracing in real time

4A Games is now positioning itself on the use of Nvidia’s new RTX technology. It’s next title Metro Exodus will support different ray tracing techniques to offer a new generation rendering. A first video arrives.

Nvidia intends to bring with its RTX technology Ray Tracing in real time in video games (GPU Volta). The promises are great and the first demonstrations very promising. Gaming should take a new step by offering a more realistic immersion.

This significant step forward will be based on a technique greedy in the calculation but had “photo realistic” result. It consists in simulating the path of light by reproducing physical phenomena such as reflection and refraction.

Metro Exodus and RTX operation, graphics card change?

4A Games takes advantage of the GDC to offer the first images of Metro: Exodus compatible with this leading RTX technology from Nvidia. That is a real-time rendering of the DirectX 12 game where RTX is in action. It concerns the ambient occlusion and the lighting to improve the phenomena of shadow, light, and reflection considerably.

One of the bad ones though and that all this requires power. Current graphics cards would not be armed to meet these needs. As a result, the most impatient players will have to wait for the first Volta solutions.
