Samsung recently introduced its modern RAM memory cubes for smartphones. The company has now decided to go one step further and has just started mass production of a faster memory for new flagships and 5G phones.
Samsung started mass production of 12GB LPDDR5 RAM in time for Samsung Galaxy Note 10
Samsung has already started mass production of the first 12Gb LPDDR5 smartphone RAMs in this industry segment. This is the latest and fastest memory from this manufacturer. These cubes, like the previous ones (LPDDR4X), are based on the second-generation chip manufactured in 10 nm lithography. However, it was developed 1.3 times faster than the previous series. In addition, the company says it will create 12 GB (Gigabyte) packages next month, each containing eight 12 GB (Gigabyte) chips.
LPDDR5: Faster and with lower consumption
According to the manufacturer, the memory in the package allows 44 GB of data (i.e. 12 Full HD movies) to be transferred per second. The data transfer rate is approx. 5500 Mbit/s. In addition, the new chip is 30% more energy-efficient thanks to new circuit design and energy-saving functions.
Samsung doesn’t just work on memory. The company recently patented the design of Smart Glasses for Augmented Reality and also achieved very good financial results. The latter was partly caused by Apple being forced to pay Samsung a fine of 770 million dollars.
