Daedalic Entertainment has announced The Lord of the Rings, Gollum, a new action adventure game set in JRR Tolkien’s famous fantasy universe. The company refers to “relevant consoles at that time”. This sounds like a crossover version, so the PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Scarlett systems could be supplied with this game. All of these next-generation consoles have not yet been announced. It promises to be an action adventure game that will tell its own story and go on sale worldwide in 2021 for PCs and consoles.
PS5: Lord of the Rings: Gollum will make fun on new Sony Playstation 5
The title is still at an early stage of development, with a PC release planned for 2021 and the consoles “relevant at this time”, which means that it will also be available for PS5 and Xbox “Scarlett”, and will not give up appearing on PS4 and Xbox One.
Daedalic’s press release states that “this new title will remain consistent with the vision presented by JRR Tolkien in The Lord of the Rings and that new events and details related to Gollum’s journey will be explored”. The game will play the role of Gollum itself, as it “tells the story of Gollum from an unprecedented perspective while remaining true to the legendary books of JRRR Tolkien.
“There is already a big conflict in the character, two voices constantly speaking to you, so there is a good reason for decisions in the game: the decisions of Smeagol or Gollum,” said Carsten Fichtelmann, CEO of Daedalic.
“We have the story that we all know from the books, but all that happens to him before it appears in the books are the things that we will see mainly in the game. We will tell the story before it appears in the books. Our idea is to present a narrative experience. About four years ago I met Middle-Earth Enterprises in Berkeley, maybe like Peter Jackson did 20 years ago, thinking I was interested in the license for the Lord of the Rings. After some negotiation, it became clear that the heirs of Tolkien wanted a company capable of doing something more storytelling than the other products that had arrived over the years,” Carsten said.
The bad news is that we have to wait to learn more about Lord of the Rings: Gollum as the game is still at a very early stage of development and is expected to arrive by 2020.
