A rumor is circulating on the web that Apple would name the large display version of its new iPhone as the iPhone XS Max. In recent years, many rumors and leaks have filled the scene before the launch of the new iPhone in 2018. Up to now, Apple has announced plans to launch three iPhone models, one with a second-generation 5.8-inch OLED display, one with a 6.5-inch OLED display and a more “economical” 6.1-inch device with an LCD screen.
About a week ago, the Cupertino company invited participants to present these new smartphones and announced its plans for the Gather Round, the ring-shaped building in Apple Park, on September 12.
Recently, confirmed by a 9to5Mac report, sources familiar with the launch of these devices say that the upcoming 5.8-inch iPhone XS model will be called iPhone XS, and the largest 6.5-inch version will be called iPhone XS Max, regardless of reports dating back to December 2017, which would ensure that the second generation of iPhone X would arrive together with a 6.5-inch iPhone X Plus”.
In case this rumor proves true, Apple would not only renew its iPhone line for this year at the level of design and hardware, but also change the usual nomenclatures with which the devices have been known since 2014 (iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus). In addition, the rumor that Apple would call its largest device iPhone XS Plus would also be eliminated.
Apart from the new name and size change, the 9to5Mac report also revealed that the iPhone XS Max battery would be larger than the smaller iPhone XS, and both devices would undergo a major hardware upgrade, which, as previously reported, would involve an A12 processor and 4GB of RAM memory.
