In the latest update of its Linux drivers, Intel talks about Comet Lake, or CML, another generation of processors based on the same architecture we saw from Skylake.
Comet Lake will have a Gen9 pattern and will be manufactured at 14nm. It is expected to follow the line from 4/8 to 6/12 to 8/16, which in this case has 10/20 cores/threads on the 115X platform.
The idea behind the launch is simple: keep adding cores to stay competitive against new AMD generations, based on the same architecture that has been revised since the 6th generation. The previous strategy has proven itself for Intel and will continue to launch Ice Lake at 10nm in 2020. This latest architecture will feature new Gen11 graphics as well as IPC and cache enhancements that will help improve performance over previous architectures.
Comet Lake is expected to arrive around Computex in June when AMD expects to announce Ryzen 3000
