The Reddit ghostreport user has recently submitted his latest work. He is a curious Instagram customer for the terminal, developed in Python, and whose name is Instagram Terminal Feed. This work is available through GitHub, from where you have also uploaded the instructions for use.
Instagram client developed in Python for the terminal
The idea is obvious, to use Instagram from the terminal. So, allowing the access to the images published in the feedthrough ASCII characters. And permitted to see them in monochrome form, formed by different ASCII characters, as well as through large color pixel blocks, for those who want to look at the images with some color. That is being able to remember the current image resolution in old computers of the 80’s, although it is apparent that it is not possible to see them in a monochrome way.
As The Verge points out, the experience behind this Instagram client is brief, showing only the images next to the description and numbers of Me Gusta and then closing.
The media above is also for the validity of the current API, on which this curious client is based. And that will be closed next year to give way to a new API that prevents non-commercial use in principle, focused mainly on advertisers and media companies, so we still do not know how this client will adapt to the new situation.
