HP has just released a new version of the Omen series monitor for PC gamers. The HP Omen 27i has a refresh rate of 165 Hz and a nano IPS panel.
HP Omen 27i, new 27-inch Nano-IPS 165 Hz monitor
The new Omen 27i game monitor uses a nano IPS panel with a 98% DCI-P3 color space. This, according to HP, provides “deeper tones and more accurate colors with a color space 25% wider than sRGB, which largely compensates for color distortion from flatter angles.
HP appears to have built this new product around a panel from LG (nano-IPS technology) and shares almost all the features of the 27GL850 that LG announced at IFA last September.
- Display Type: Nano IPS
- Resolution: 2560 × 1440 pixels
- Response time: 1ms GtG with overdrive
- Update rate: 165 Hz via DP or HDMI
- Contrast ratio: 1000:1
- Brightness: 350 nits
- Connections: DP 1.2, HDMI 2.0, 3X USB 3.0 (2 up and one down), audio output
- The bracket can be removed and a VESA-compatible bracket can be used instead.
Another key feature of the HP Omen 27i is the fact that it supports Nvidia G-Sync, which means that it is a FreeSync monitor that works well with Nvidia’s entry-level G-Sync capabilities. Therefore, its main feature is to minimize the possibility of screen tears and/or screen stuttering.
The monitor will be available from May 22 through HP.com at an initial price of $499.99.
