If you’re a Gmail user and you’re going to be away from email, on vacation, or out of the office for a while, you might want to set up an automatic email response message directly through the Gmail application.
The autoresponder feature in Gmail works just as it implies its own name names; when you enable it and someone sends you an email, they’ll receive an automatic reply from your email account with the message you’ve left.
Usually, you put something like “I’m out of the office right now, please call me or contact someone else so I can help you.
How to enable autoresponder in Gmail for iOS
First of all, you should know that the message you prepare will also be sent when you send emails from your computer.
- Open the Gmail app on the iPhone.
- Press the Menu at the top left (the one with the three horizontal dashes).
- Enter Settings (below everything).
- Enter the account from which you want to activate the automatic response.
- Tap Auto Answer.
- Activate “Automatic response”.
- Specify the time period and write the subject and the message.
- Click on Save.
How to activate the autoresponder in Gmail for Android
The process in the Android application to create an automatic response in Gmail is practically the same:
-
- Open Gmail.
- Click on the Menu menu on the top left.
- Go down to the end and enter Settings.
- Select your account
- Click on the Automatic answer
- Tap Done.
To deactivate the automatic response, simply repeat the steps and click on “deactivate”.
As a note, you should also bear in mind that an automatic reply will not be sent to those messages that go to your spam folder or to the newsletters to which you are subscribed.
