GTA 6 isn’t even official but all eyes of the fans of the saga are already focused on it. However, information and rumors about it are already appearing on the internet. Maybe it’s time to take a look at everything we know about the future big production of Rockstar Games. Details on prices, platforms, release date, gameplay, everything you need to know about GTA 6 can be found here.
Obviously, GTA 6 for sure is one of the games most expected by fans of the saga and Rockstar productions in general. At least for now, the American studio is keeping silent about its next open-world game like a grave. However, in mid-January 2020, a tax niche in which Rockstar Games was located led to the assumption that the title had been in preparation for several years. In this regularly updated dossier, you will find all the information, rumors and floor noise related to GTA 6, the future mastodon of the Rockstar Games.
When will GTA 6 be released?
No official release date for GTA 6 has been announced yet. However, several rumors and leaks in Reddit indicate a possible release window. The most optimistic ones mention a start for the Christmas holidays in 2021, while others plan for spring 2022.
Some theories prefer to focus on earlier release schedules for Rockstar games. As our colleagues on the GamesRadar website point out, the studio has a habit of letting exactly 22 months pass between the official announcement of a game and its release.
This was the case for GTA 4, which was announced on 10 May 2006 and released on 22 April 2008, and GTA 5, which was announced on 3 November 2011 for release on 17 September 2013. Indeed, some specialized analysts are also betting on this deadline. In other words, once GTA 6 is officially announced, it would take another 22 months to get your hands on the game.
On which platforms will the game be released?
According to a major leak that user JackOLantern released on Reddit in 1982 (but has since been removed), GTA 6 will be used exclusively on next-generation consoles, namely the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Given the possible release dates, both Sony and Microsoft devices will gradually become more widely available at home. If GTA 6 is actually released in late 2021 or later, the Xbox Series X and PS5 will have been available for a year.
From a commercial point of view, it is preferable to launch GTA 6 on a sufficiently developed next-generation console park to reach a maximum number of players. Alternatively, Rockstar may decide to release the game for both old generation consoles (PS4 and Xbox One) and the new generation (PS5 and Xbox Series X). In this situation, the studio could reach a very, very large number of players. A possible PC version is currently not mentioned. Nevertheless, we kept our fingers crossed. So far, all canonical episodes of GTA, as well as Red Dead Redemption 2, have found their way to PC gamers. Only Red Dead Redemption 1 was never adapted.
News and rumors about GTA 6, everything that is currently known and assumed
At the moment GTA 6 is not officially approved, so there is no information confirmed by Rockstar. However, a huge leak released on Reddit in June 2019 revealed a large number of details about the title, including exact details about the gameplay, scenario, game zone and many other aspects. Let’s take a look at this information:
- GTA 6 would have been in production since 2012, but its development would have begun in 2015 with a small team of Rockstar WorldWide Production, with the majority of the forces from the various Rockstar studios working hard on Red Dead Redemption 2 and the successor to GTA Online.
- The code name of GTA 6 will be Project AMERICAS.
- GTA 6 would currently be the main project of Rockstar, along with another new game (probably Bully 2).
The scene:
- GTA 6 would invite players to take to the streets of Vice City again, as well as a new city in Brazil that would be a replica of the current Rio de Janeiro. The missions would also take place in Liberty City, the New York district of GTA IV.
- The game would take place in the 70s and 80s, and the player would be made to impersonate a drug lord, who would then be called Ricardo. The player began as a simple henchman in the cocaine trade in Vice City, before climbing the career ladder by developing partnerships with other drug sponsors.
- A huge Alcatraz-style prison would also be one of the available game zones.
- Martin Madrazo, head of a Mexican cartel and a well-known figure in GTA 5 and GTA Online, might show up in the early stages of the game.
- The game would deal with the social issues of the time, such as the rise of AIDS, communism or the tensions between the United States and Cuba, not forgetting the golden age of the
- Colombian cartels led by Medellin and Pablo Escobar.
- The game’s plot, characters, and narrative structure would be strongly inspired by the Netflix Narcos series and Quentin Tarantino’s films (the game would be played in chapter form).
The gameplay:
The gameplay of the game would be a subtle balance between the arcade side of GTA 5 and the advanced realism of Red Dead Redemption 2.
Weather cycles would be managed in real-time, and the fact that part of the game would take place in Latin America would have new effects (tornado, storm, monsoon season, etc.)
Because GTA 6 will be played over several years, the vehicles, clothing style and architecture of the buildings could evolve with the character.
The player’s personal vehicle would serve as a mini-hub, like the horse in Red Dead Redemption 2. The weapons would be stored in the trunk, and the player would not be able to carry more than two weapons (again, as in RDR 2).
An escalation system (reputation, money, business development opportunities) would also be integrated, similar to what can be found on GTA Online.
The player could have a choice between a female or male character. This idea was not excluded by the Houser brothers, the founders of the Rockstar Studios. The two men said in an interview for The Guardian newspaper in 2013 that they had “not yet found the right game for it”.
Here is the most important information that this leak at Reddit brings with it. Of course, all this can be taken with a huge, even gigantic, pair of tweezers. Maybe there is some truth in this big enumeration. As Jason Schreier of Kotaku says: “If a video game leaks a huge score, that’s not true! ».
Nevertheless, it must be said that some items on this list are regularly highlighted by other bodies, starting with the AMERICAS codename project and the fact that the player can travel between the United States and Latin America. As has already been mentioned, this issue will change depending on the statements and announcements made by Rockstar, as well as future leaks and leaks in connection with the long-awaited GTA 6.
