Perhaps the tenth version of Android marks the end of the operating system being replaced by Fuchsia, Google’s next operating system, which has been rewritten from scratch and is designed to unify smartphones, PCs, televisions, tablets and more.
One of the users’ fears was that Fuchsia would receive little attention due to the lack of applications. This is something that often occurs with new operating systems, but Fuchsia doesn’t seem to be one of those cases. A recent update of the Fuchsia code that mentions that ART is being developed for Fuchsia, where ART stands for Android RunTime, which is basically the environment on which Android apps run. Thanks to this, it will not be difficult to have a large number of apps when offering the devices for sale with Fuchsia, which increases the possibilities of user acceptance.
However, the apps must be recompiled to run in Fuchsia. Instead of relying on specific hardware, a.far file or Fuchsia package is created. Obviously, this will allow it to run on all kinds of platforms, including those based on ARM or x86, PCs, tablets and of course smartphones.
There is no concrete arrival date for Fuchsia yet, but it has already been used in several devices, not only with Snapdragon but for example in the Kirin of Huawei. The progress is quite good so that innovations are expected in 2020 or 2021.
What do you think of Fuchsia? Do you want to see an Android replacement?
