Rumours have it that Google and Apple are working on their own folding terminals that would use Samsung screens. Last week at the Mobile World Congress, several folding terminals were unveiled, including the Samsung Galaxy Flex and the Huawei Mate X. Recently, the CEO of Huawei said the Samsung smartphone was poorly manufactured. Something Apple and Google don’t seem to think about, considering using their screens for their next terminals. Although there is no official information, it is pointed out that the South Korean company will be the one to make its screens.
Google and Apple could use Samsung folding screens
Apple seems very interested in releasing a folding terminal that may be 50% more expensive than before. However, Apple and Google terminals would have smaller screens.
Samsung has many interests in the foldable smartphone market, a market that has made a lot of money. The company has agreed others and cooperation with other companies regarding folding screens. They seem to have an interest in having many of these terminals on the market. The interest is mainly in selling a large number of foldable OLED panels.
At the moment we don’t know whether Apple or Google have plans for their own folding stations. Perhaps this demand for folding panels will never reach the South Korean company. Maybe this folding terminal will be the reference of Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, for products that have left us an open mouth.
Despite everything, the market for foldable smartphones is far from being a generalist reality. The cheapest is Samsung, which is worth about 2,000 euros, while Huawei costs 2,300 euros. They are extremely expensive and not very useful at the moment. However, we will see if with the arrival of more terminals, increasing competition and falling prices.
