The CEO of Samsung’s Mobile Division, DJ Koh, spent a pretty good holiday with the media. He has no concerns about bringing interesting information about the company’s upcoming launches, and one of the most recent contributions in this regard is a direct reference to flexible folding smartphones.
Flexible folding smartphones represent a somewhat broad concept since we can include both terminals with low bending capacity and terminals that are fully collapsible from one or more parts in the same category. For example, the Galaxy Round is an example of a flexible smartphone in its minimal expression, whereas by 2019 the terminal Samsung is working on will be an example of a truly flexible folding smartphone.
Samsung’s flexible folding smartphone is about the idea of a foldable device that would fold in the middle on the basis of the latest information. It could be unfolded to provide a large screen that could provide a tablet-like experience. At this point, Koh wanted to make it clear that they are working to do something exciting and different.
This new device tentatively known as Galaxy F is expected to be announced in the first quarter of 2019 and will share the spotlight with Samsung’s Galaxy S10, which is expected to be released between February and March.
